On Sunday, 6 members of the 2018-19 team ventured up to Benalla for the 2018 District Assembly. Michael Martin (Treasurer), Ernita Songahid (Secretary) John Roberts (Aquabox), Jules Aussems (Membership), Jill and I all found the sessions interesting and useful. I attended the session on Foundation which was presented by DG Nominee Brian Peters and learnt quite a bit about how Foundation works and how to use the grants available to maximise the work we do in the community. Did you know that Foundation was named the world’s No 1 charity last year? Brian Peters has agreed to come and visit the Club in the near future to explain Foundation so that we can all understand better the impact of our donations - the Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) campaign, personal giving, and the Paul Harris society. As Brian says, once people understand the power of Foundation, they will make it their number one charity. Thanks Jules for driving the six of us to Benalla.
The footy season is well underway and so is our footy tipping competition. Congratulations to Alan McCleary who had a perfect score in the first round and leads the competition, despite strong challenges from Dale and Ann. Thanks to Graham Miles for organising footy tipping again this year (and great to see you back again last week Graham) President elect Jill flies off to Europe and Canada this week to visit her son and have some R &R before taking up Presidential duties from July. Have a wonderful trip Jill.
Cheers, President Judy

Well, it was a day of glorious weather on Friday the 6th April, when teams from the Rotary Club of Eltham ventured to Green Acres Golf Club in Kew for the Learn to Live Charity Golf Day. As one of the Charities that David McFarlane supported we were proud to be there to support him. Ash McFarlane welcomed everyone to the day, shaking their hands - David would be so proud. Josh was the MC for the night. Jess and Marlene were present at the Cocktail party afterwards. It was great to catch up with them again.
Highlights of the day were many with the Gentsomes golf format bringing in an amazing score of 118 to win. Our teams scores varied between 88 and 101, which are respectable results. There are stories to tell! Darryl Wallace tried to reshape Robyn Males golf bag with a miss-hit off the tee! Could have been dangerous. Brett Linsell a seasoned golfer from Heidelberg Golf Club won several bottles of wine, with the closest drive to the hole on the 12th. Ian Kiddle and Graham Miles were quoted as saying the last time they played was 5 years ago, but as good sports they turned up to play.
The Cocktail Party was fun for all as more members and partners attended to boost our group. There was a raffle and silent auction. Thanks to Mike Englefield for organising us and to the members, friends and partners who attended.
The Eltham Montmorency RSL and RCE present to the community the ANZAC DAY service. This year we have students from Eltham College and CLC involved. With bagpipes, Amazing Grace and a trumpet player, floral wreaths, and speakers, it is very moving. Please contact Rob Kilcullen to assist in the running of the service starting at 6am - however, he will require you earlier than this.
