Last week we floated a draft Vision Statement and Objectives as the next step in the development of our Strategic Plan. They are reproduced later in this Bulletin. Please let me know your comments and suggestions on these so that we can ensure that they truly reflect our collective view of what we are about and where we are heading.
Congratulations to Dale and the Aquabox team for a comprehensive and compelling presentation of the Aquabox operations to Vicki Ward MP last Friday morning. Vicki was very impressed by this flagship project of Eltham Rotary and she also offered some innovative fundraising ideas. We look forward to her strong support and endorsement of Aquabox across our community and in Spring Street.
Following the past two club nights reflecting on District and Club matters, I’m really looking forward to a FUN “Night in Rio” this week. Alison Cooper and Mike Englefield have been putting a lot of crazy, fun ideas together to ensure a great night for Rotarians and partners to celebrate “all that is Rio” and “The Games”. Get into the spirit and dress as an Olympic star or a Brazilian character…. Let your creative imagination run wild! …. Not to be missed.Veja-o no Rio! (See you in Rio!)
Be prepared to bring your inner Olympic spirit this week as Rio is coming to Eltham!! After a couple of structured meetings we are bringing the fun back. We welcome some very special guests, Mamiko and Johnny Akiyama (Montmorency Secondary College Japanese Student Exchange Ambassadors) from Hondo City, Japan and Japan/Australia exchange students for their annual visit.
Also we have lined up six former Olympian guests and a famous sports commentator to host the night and interview the former athletes.You will hear first hand what it takes to become an Olympian and to wear the Green and Gold.
Yes the fun is back and we look forward to members getting in the spirit of the night so come dressed as your favourite sportsperson or Aussie supporter (prizes to be awarded). Accept the challenge now, and come along with your partner and make this a very special night.
Chairperson for the meeting is – Ian Toohill (TBC) and first time fine master Darryl Wallace – extraordinary traveller to Brazil.
The Rotary Club of Kinglake Ranges and the Rotary Club of Mitcham have invited us to join them for a special Melbourne Cup Day event at Kinglake in aid of our AQUABOX project. Many Eltham Rotarians, partners and friends have enjoyed Cup Day events with Mitcham at Redbox winery in the past. This year’s event at Kinglake is sure to be another winner! Mark your diaries now and watch this space for further details as they become available.
