This week RC Eltham hosts the long awaited Membership Cocktail Party at The Common. Margaret Lane has worked tirelessly to present an informal but effective evening to showcase the members & their activities.
Brief presentations will focus on the following;
(1) The Club is busy & well respected in the local Community,
(2) Significant International projects in South Asia and the Sub Continent,
(3) AquaBox disaster relief in Australia & Asia.
Shourouf has strongly supported the evening, will provide finger food & background music.
The success of the evening relies heavily on many Club Members introducing new contacts to the Club. All guests will take away fresh ideas of how to activate their individual Community & project interest. They will learn heaps about RC Eltham and make new friends. Do work hard to introduce a guest on Thursday.
President David returns from Europe to lead the evening. Margaret Lane will chair, no need for a FineMaster but every reason to devise a worthwhile raffle. Cost of the finger food will be $35, drinks @ bar prices. Do get behind this important evening.

Reports from the floor:
1. Paul Kelly – A raised planter box installed yesterday for multiple sclerosis sufferers at Watsonia with the assistance of Jill Ramsay and Dale Atkins. A fun day for all involved.
2. Graham Miles – Sponsorship doing well and may reach total of $9,000. Due to injury, Graham is now doing the half marathon. All participants will finish at the MCG.
3. Max Lee – lunch after marathon must be paid for tonight - 8 Oct.
4. Ann Lynch – message from Kaye Smith thanking everyone for their condolences following the death of her mother. Festival meeting next Monday (12 Oct), and Board meeting reports due Friday week (17 Oct). Please have next week’s apologies in by Tuesday evening. Special order shirts ready to collect.
5. Margaret Lane – 10 guests expected for next Thursday evening.
6. Ken Paynter – No meeting on Thurs 22 Oct – replaced by lunch after the Marathon on Sunday 18 Oct.
BBQ last week took $650 – very hot day. This week’s BBQ to be run by Paul Kelly & friends.
Guest speaker: Jeannette Davison – Arts Manager Montsalvat. Jeannette spoke of the historic underpinnings of the Montsalvat Arts Colony here in Eltham and founded in 1934 by Justus Jorgensen. It is home to over a dozen buildings, houses and halls and set amongst almost 50,000 square metres of garden. Jeannette showed us photographs of the recent Arts Festival and described plans for increasing the participation of the local community in the life of Montsalvat.
