I hope everyone has remained high and dry in the deluge although in the end we didn’t need any arks.
Congratulations to Mrs Spud, Vicki Mackrell (ably represented by Jill Ramsay), and Mr Spud, Alan McCleary (ably represented by Ken Paynter), whose awards were announced by our spud masters ‘baker' Ron Manison and ‘butcher’ Mike Englefield at last week’s meeting. Also 'commended' for efforts at BBQs were Margaret Lane and Dave Laws. Thanks Mike and Ron for a most enjoyable and amusing evening. And many thanks to Tip Top Butchers and Bakers Delight Eltham for both supplying costumes for the evening and for their ongoing support for our BBQs.
At our AGM last week, it was my absolute pleasure to announce that the Nominating Committee had proposed John Skinner as President Nominee for 2019-20. John brings much Rotary experience at both Club and District level to the role having held portfolios including Youth Services and International Director in the past. His nomination was endorsed and warmly applauded at the AGM. Congratulations John.
President Elect Jill Ramsay announced her key office bearers for 2018- 2019: Ernita Songahid will take on the Secretary role whilst Michael Martin will be Treasurer. John Skinner will return to the Board as PE and take on Administration and I will become Vice President. Jill will announce the remainder of her Board early next year. Many thanks to the outgoing office bearers Ann Lynch and Lou Bolzonello who have both done amazing jobs in their respective roles as Secretary and Treasurer over the past few years and truly deserve well earned breaks.
Macca continues to improve slowly and he has now been moved out of intensive care and into a ward at RMH.
I won’t be at our weekly meeting this week but Kevin Hadingham will ably preside in my place. See you all at the Christmas Party on 14 December (and don’t forget to book on Trybooking). Cheers,

What's coming up at Rotary?
Second last week before the Christmas break and what a week we have. This week is a special meeting for all members. Our newest members will be presenting their Rotarian Behind the Badge. John Roberts and Enrita will enlighten the club members on their background, experience in Rotary with another club and general outline their passions and interests.The RBTB nights are an opportunity for club members to get to know one another better.Come along and support our newest members.

Christmas Party - 14 December - NOT to be missed.  Book in now!!
In the Eaglemont Room - Heidelberg Gold Club.  From 6.30pm be entertained with music, fellowship and great food.
Cost $50 per person 2 course meal. Bring a teddy bear to continue the tradition set by Marlene Birch a long time ago.
Bring a $10 Secret Santa unisex present wrap to share for fun. Band - duo (Charlie and Fi) will be getting you up on the dance floor.

Members are asked to let Alison know their expression of interest for our first event in January on Thursday 18 January - Dialogue in the Dark Experience. This is a Guide Dog Victoria event at Docklands which is a display that shows everyone what it is like to be vision impaired and the obstacles you may encounter. Let Alison know if you are interested and available on that date. It would commence at 5pm and cost $35 per person to go through the exhibition.  A dinner at Docklands would then be arranged at members expense. On Wednesday 24 January a home invasion is planned to raise funds for Rotary Health at Margot and Rob Kilcullen's place in Research.  More information next week with details to book and what to bring.

On behalf of the Rotaract Club of Diamond Valley, I would like to cordially invite you to our Christmas Party. Details are as below.
DATE – Monday 11th December 2017
VENUE – Joy’s House (Address to be provided after RSVP received)
TIME – 6:30pm for 7pm start 
Please bring a plate and drink to share, thank you. In the spirit of Christmas we will be having Secret Santa, hence, we kindly ask that you bring a unisex gift worth $20 when you attend. Please also note that food items will not be accepted as gifts (that includes chocolate). Lastly, we ask that you RSVP by Monday the 4th of December, thank you. If you wish to bring your partner or friends please state the number of attendees in your response.

Wellbeing Coaching Program

My name is Bec and I am a wellbeing coach at a new program called Steps to Wellbeing, a national community health and wellbeing organisation. A free Wellbeing Coaching Program – Neami Steps to Wellbeing - is funded by the Eastern Primary Health Network as part of their stepped care model for Mental Health, which could be a helpful resource for your community. Free sessions consist of 6 x 1 hour wellbeing coaching sessions can take place in person at one of our three locations – Heidelberg, Blackburn or Croydon, over the phone or web. We have access to interpreters to support people from diverse communities. This program, delivered by Neami National, will be offering short-term wellbeing coaching to people who reside in the North, Inner East and Outer East region of Melbourne, who are: - over 16yrs, - experiencing Increased life stressors - experiencing signs of anxiety and/or depression - not already connected with community or clinical mental health services. We are now accepting referrals, which can be made online at http://stepstowellbeing.org.au or at  stepstowellbeing@neaminational.org.au
