President's Report

Hi members and friends,
It was wonderful to be back to our Club last Thursday after a great trip overseas, especially on such a special night, our "get to know Rotary night" brilliantly organised by Margaret Lane.

This evening was a great innovation in recruiting new members and I would hope it would become an annual event.
Congratulations Margaret you not only came up with a great concept but you presented everything brilliantly.

I attended the luncheon on Sunday after the running of the Marathon.

Firstly congratulations to Sally for arranging a beaut venue in the Fitzroy Gardens for lunch.Congratulations to Graham and all our participants who ran or walked and helped raise close to $10,000.Thanks also to Max and Graham for arranging our valuable sponsors.

Both Thursday and Sunday showcased what a enormous amount of club projects we have and how proud we should be to be a member of The Rotary Club of Eltham,

Thanks
President David.

MELBOURNE MARATHON

We had another great day on Sunday at the Melbourne Marathon, members and family competing in the 10km, 5.7km and 3.7km distances, followed by a fabulous lunch organised by Sally at the Pavilion in the Fitzroy Gardens.

I managed to complete the 21km Half Marathon unscathed, finishing with a pleasing time of 1hr 44mins. Thank you for all your well wishes and sponsorship, it's much appreciated and a real motivator to run .
PS it's not to late if you haven't sponsored me to make a pledge,it would be great to beat last years total.

To see fellow members and their families enjoying taking part is just as rewarding to me as getting to the finish line; to hear them say they look forward to next year where they would like to try to improve their time or even try a greater distance, even more so.

Once again well done to all those who competed today, thank you to those who supported us at the "G" and who joined us for lunch. Those who could not attend thank you again for your support, you missed a fantastic day, hope you can make it next year should we run this event.

Regards
Graham "26"

Hi Everyone
Thank you Graham for your motivation and well done and congratulations to you on running the half marathon.  And the same to everyone else ... no
matter how far we walked or ran, it was good fun, with enjoyable company and some valuable funds were raised for Aquabox.

Love the t-shirts thanks Graham and thanks Sally for arranging lunch and a
get-together with others. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning! (Says she
who only walked 3.5km. But, I'm aiming to do 10km next year!)

Cheers,
Jill  "3.5"
