Nice to have a quieter week and a more relaxed meeting and good to hear everyone reflecting on such a successful Festival. Thanks to Michael Martin for his top effort as fine master; his preparation was very detailed. Well done Michael!
Our AGM probably set a record for going as long as it did - great to have member involvement. It was a personal thrill to induct two new members last week and we welcome Ian and Darryl to our club. I am sure that they will be very valuable members and I hope they enjoy their time as members of RC Eltham. I think that this takes our membership to 56 including our Honorary member and with more new members coming we might hit 60 very soon. I would like to take the credit but must concede that it is all due to Margaret Lane. She is doing a great job as Membership Chair.
I was excited to announce that Judy Sharp will be our President in 2017-18.Congratulations Judy.
This week we will enjoy Sally Squires RBTB so let's get behind her by all being there on Thursday night.
Don't forget our Christmas party on December 10. Ballara are doing us a great deal with full Christmas fare so please book and pay this week.

This week we gather for the last "normal" meeting before Xmas. Apologies, we have two speakers again this week;
(1) Sally Squires will present her RBTB, long overdue but not her fault as she has been twice bumped. Behind the Badge evenings are always enjoyable- relaxed & we learn plenty about a special one of our own
(2) Warwick Leeson, former Nillumbik Mayor, will speak for 10/12 mins on Family Violence in his capacity as an Ambassador for Nillumbik White Ribbon Foundation. White Ribbon has enjoyed strong local & National promotion recently. President David is expected to provide modest funding support on behalf of RC Eltham.
President David loves Xmas so should be in good form. Les Coath will, reluctantly, chair this week. Kevin Hadingham has the last chance to fill the bowl for Xmas with lots of beans.
Venue is The Common, 6.15pm for 6.45pm; cost $35 per head for two course meal, drinks @ bar prices. Next time @ The Common is Thursday 21st January, 2016. Do complete payment for the Xmas Party @ Ballara Receptions- $55 per head with $5 wine corkage AND dust off your teddy for next week!!

Max Lee reported on the Rotary Zone Institute event at Etihad Stadium which he attended along with Peter Roden. Good contacts were made in relation to the promotion of Aquabox
Ian Toohill needs help to pack textbooks for Timor. Interactors made $860 at Festival. The two Montmorency S/C students nominated for Lord Somers camp have been accepted
Brett Linsell also reported on Rotaractors contribution to the Festival particularly the great job done by Erin with the Youth Stage and bands. Brett discussed his involvement with ‘Movember’ over the last 5 years and its goal which is changing the face of Men’s Health
David McFarlane attended the Sensitive Santa event at Mill Park Library involving 44 x families. RC Eltham will continue to support this excellent community program
Jill Ramsay updated news from Youth Services. Montmorency S/C Year 10 student (Amelia Roberts), is now in a rural area of Japan at the commencement of a 10 week exchange. This time the Japanese contingent have chosen a young male exchange student
Dale Atkins attended the RYLA dinner on Wednesday evening at Campbell’s Creek with Sally Squires and will return to Malmsbury on Sunday to drive Zac back to Melbourne. Zac’s family is very appreciative of the support from RC Eltham
Rob Kilkullen thanked all involved with the Festiva land in particular the Festival Committee
Ann Lynch thanked Rob for his outstanding work as Festival Director. Numbers are needed by next week for the Christmas function at Ballara on Thursday 10 December
Paul Kelly added his thanks to all who assisted with the Festival. A Rotary jacket (Size L) was left behind and is waiting for collection by its owner.

District Conference - Bendigo, 25-28 February 2016
As February and our District Conference is fast approaching, it is now time for us to finalise our attendance.
Accommodation is at the Best Western Cathedral Inn where we have 20 rooms reserved plus a further 10 rooms on hold.
Please advise Ann or me whether you will be attending and the nights you require accommodation. A list will be circulated on Thursday night and at the Christmas Party.
Registration. Please go to our District Conference website where you will find all the information needed - e.g. Keynote Speakers, social functions, sporting events, House of Friendship etc.
Remember, Rotarians must register themselves for Conference. We are not able to do this for you due to all the options offered to the delegates.
Friday Night is traditionally our Cub night where we are booked at the National Hotel. They have given us our own function room and have promised us a great spread. It is just a short 2 block stroll from the Cathedral Inn.
Lets hope you will all be able to join us in Bendigo for this entertaining, interesting and fun weekend.

MOVEMBER
We seek to make a global contribution to men living happier, healthier, longer lives. This ambition underpins everything we do. It is the driving force behind our campaigns, funding strategy, and vision for the future.
Why men's health?
The state of men’s health is in a crisis. Simply put, men are dying too young.
Gender is one of the strongest and most consistent predictors of health and life expectancy. For men, this is not good news. On average, across the world, men die 6 years earlier than women.
Moreover, poor mental health affects men more than women: three quarters of suicides are by men. The World Health Organisation estimates that 510,000 men die from suicide globally each year. That’s one every minute.
The impact of prostate and testicular cancer on lives is substantial, with prostate cancer being the second most common cancer in men worldwide and the number of cases expected to almost double to 1.7 million cases by 2030.
Yet this gender-based inequality in health has received little national, regional or global acknowledgement or attention from health policy-makers or healthcare providers. This is exactly why the Movember Foundation focuses on men’s health. This is why Mo Bros and Mo Sistas from across the globe become a united voice every Movember, bringing vital funding and attention to the hidden men’s health crisis.
