The Diamond Valley Community Support (DVCS) 'Food Collective' project is supporting individuals and families in Nillumbik who are facing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To support the Food Collective, the Rotary Club of Eltham launched the 'Rotary CAN' appeal, with the aim of collecting canned food items from households in the Nillumbik area. Flyers were distributed to homes requesting cans be left at the front of the property for safe collection. On the 26th of September 2020, the Club collected 3140 canned and other food items from households in Eltham and surrounds. The food was subsequently transported to DVCS for distribution to the needy in the area.
After the food was delivered, the following response was received from Kerri Wellington, Client Programs and Volunteer Coordinator at DVCS:

We are absolutely gob-smacked by the generosity of your group and the community and blown away by your outcome!! From all of the organisations in the Food Collective Project, I want to say a very sincere thank you and that you have helped in an enormous way to sustain the food service delivery and support given to the community in this region.
......please pass on our deepest gratitude and appreciation for all those involved – at the present time it is so heart-warming to see so many amazing people doing such great work to help others in need. We are so grateful to be working together with you in this cause.
